Christmas is my favorite holiday- I love the lights but can't stand Christmas music. Now that the holiday is over, I am ready to put away all of the decorations and get the tree the heck out of my living room so we have some space again! Between the tree, the furniture and the toys, there just isn't a whole lot of room to spare. But, we have decided to wait one more weekend before taking the tree down though I have started to put away a few little things.
The girls had a great holiday. Sydney slept most of the morning and Brooklyn opened up all of her presents for her. I get such enjoyment out of seeing Brooklyn so happy in the little things- how much longer this will last, well, I don't even want to think about it. Take for instance, a flashlight. She loves to play with these and she got one for Christmas. How many of us would be as excited? She also loves to wear neclaces. This year, plastic beads suit her just fine. Next year, diamonds. Then pearls. Then birthstones. See what I mean? Enjoy buying the simple gifts now!
She received her fair share of Dora merchandise and many books. She still loves to read and something I try to encourage as much as possible no matter what we are doing. We received many thoughtful presents and hopefully next year she'll be at more of the right age where she will be happy helping and giving to others.
We are slowly starting Sydney on solids. First up was the rice cereal, now its the green beans. She had a semi scrunched up face the first taste but really seemed to love it after that. Still not sleeping through the night though. I guess we are just destined to have kids that don't sleep through the night. Brooklyn usually makes her way to our room and Sydney wakes up about 2 times a night.
The first pic is one of Brooklyn's favorite places to sit and keep an eye on us- on the kitchen counter. The second is our "guitar hero." Next, Sydney is passed out in the bumbo chair after too much Christmas partying (she must have had some of my spiked sparkling punch) and the last is of my little boo boo and me. I don't know why I can't call her by her real name most of the time! We hope you all have a very safe new year!
